Is it difficult getting started with skyline api?

I like to be able to select a location on screen or by user entering northing, easting state plane coordinates and be able to draw geometry very much like a cad system. I need the user to be able to set the start location and a direction. Does the api have this ability for someone starting out.

In the end I like to draw and label (text) items after drawing the geomety. also can I draw in 3D vectors and be able to export the results for other know cad formats or xml data set that can be used by autocad or other cad systems.

cad the electems being drawn be dynamic? if an element is drawn from a form that is still active, will a change in the form fire so the drawing elements are re-drawn?

Thanks, Have a great day

Hi John, please find below answers to your questions:

1.Is it difficult getting started with skyline api?
It's like any software, It depends on your  knowledge of the software as a user. It is recommended to know the TerraExplorer Pro features for learning quickly and easily the API.
It also depends on your experience with JavaScript and COM development. But don’t worry, the API is very simple to use and efficient.

2. Yes it’s possible, you can write your own interface for that with your own parameters and way of digitizing

3.
  • Label text: easy: if you already have the coordinates and the text you want to see, only one or 2 lines of code are needed.
  • export: 2D entities can be exported into Esri Shape files. You can also write your own export module. You can also imagine writing a dynamical interface between AutoCAD and TerraExplorer (without echange files, directly through memory form TE to AutoCAD or form AutoCAD to TE, using their API on the fly)

4. As you can access to all the properties of the elements, you can do whatever you want with them. So the answer is Yes.

I hope this helps.
Best regards
